One World Observatory, NYC

I waited till today to create this post, but for my mother’s birthday she wanted to see the One World Observatory, which is the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere dedicated to the tragic incident that struck the Twin Towers 16 years ago today.

The observatory is located on the 101st, 102nd, and 103rd floors out of 104. The elevator ride caused my mom to be a bit lightheaded because we were ascending and descending all those floors at a speed of 23 mph., but the experience and view made it worth it.

After our ascent, we are directed to a dark room showing a video presentation about the the facts and figures of the newly constructed building and then it reveals the view we’ve all been waiting for.

The way the observatory was designed was to walk in a complete circle to capture a 360 degree view of New York City. My thoughts completely changed from the moment I was introduced to this view to when I was making my way towards the ending point. I have always known that living in this city has its perks, but I was totally unaware that I have such easy access and proximity of NYC. I am very grateful for being born and raised in New York as well as having the advantage to go to school in Manhattan.

Do you feel the same about your city/hometown?
